WE NEED TO TALK

Replacing fear with clarity when giving feedback

Have you ever had a terrible feedback experience?

If you said yes, you are not alone! Both giving – and receiving – feedback can be stressful and uncomfortable! Usually, it’s because we’ve had a bad experience and it’s continuing to linger.

Time to replace those negative experiences with positive ones! We’ll get you seeing feedback as a GIFT – an opportunity to invest in someone else’s growth (and your own!).

In “We need to talk” you’ll learn how to deliver feedback in a way that is truthful AND shows care for the other person. The feedback you share will be kind, timely, behaviour-based, relevant, and actionable. (You’ll also learn how to receive feedback graciously – also a common source of awkwardness for many of us!)

And, while you cannot control what another person thinks or how they feel, your approach and intent will create an environment that is steeped in psychological safety.

Most importantly, you’ll be able to deliver both positive and constructive feedback with the confidence that you’ve been intentional, clear, and caring, setting up the highest possibility for success.

This workshop is ideal for people managers, L&D and People teams, and anyone who needs to hold performance, behaviour or wellbeing conversations as part of their role. It is designed for everyday workplace realities, not formal procedures.
IS THIS ABOUT CONFLICT RESOLUTION?
Not exactly. The workshop focuses on everyday difficult conversations at work that feel awkward, tense or easy to delay. Participants learn practical ways to approach these conversations with clarity, confidence and kindness.
IS THIS SUITABLE FOR NEW MANAGERS?
Yes. New managers often find difficult conversations the hardest part of the role. The workshop gives them simple tools and a supportive space to build confidence quickly.
WILL MY TEAM FEEL “PUT ON THE SPOT”?
No. While a key part of the workshop is practising how to give and receive feedback, no one is ever thrown into it without support. Participants are given time in the session to prepare, reflect and choose the examples they want to work with. The practice is structured, guided and respectful, so everyone can take part at a pace that feels safe and constructive.
WHAT WILL PARTICIPANTS WALK AWAY WITH?
Participants leave with a clear framework for planning and holding difficult conversations, a calmer mindset, and practical tools that reduce stress and improve communication. They also build confidence to address issues sooner rather than later.
DO YOU COVER HOW AI AFFECTS COMMUNICATION IN THE WORKPLACE?
Yes. We explore where AI tools can support clarity, preparation and documentation for difficult conversations, and where human judgement is essential. The emphasis is on using AI responsibly while keeping communication real, human and grounded.
